The artist has given the full amount of his £25,000 honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the UK's small music venues.

Fender was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his new release the album was named the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues played in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it weren't for all the gigs I played around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," remarked Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, major artists including the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

He also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help 38 small stages across the UK.

The money assisted locations that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties arising from water damage, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Other venues received funding support in improving infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted performers and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from shows in big venues helps the independent spots, where it begins for musicians like me, is just logical," the star has commented.

Recently, the trust revealed it had protected several small stages in south-east England, by placing them under local control.

The first in Southampton and the other in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is backed by a national body and music fans who buy "stakes" in the buildings.
