Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report initial examinations show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A senior official stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
